At Evans Street Dental, we believe that the best way to deal with oral health problems is to ensure that you don’t have them in the first place. The best way to stop problems before they start is to get frequent dental checkups and cleanings at least twice a year.
If you live here in McMinnville, we would love to start to form a rapport with you. Give us a call, and we’ll be able to schedule you for a checkup.
When you’re feeling bad, it’s easy to find the motivation to get to the dentist’s office. The same can’t be said for dental checkups.
That’s a problem, because routine care is vitally important if you want to stave off more serious oral health problems. Without a professional cleaning, there are areas of the mouth are naturally going to start to develop plaque buildup. This can contribute to gum disease and tooth decay, which can advance into severe toothaches and other oral health problems.
Taking the time to see us twice a year can prevent these issues from cropping up, getting worse, or bringing you to our office for an emergency appointment.
When you visit us for an emergency appointment, we’ll take the time to check every corner of your mouth, making sure that you’re in good health. We’ll take a careful look at your teeth, any existing dental work, and the quality of your bite. We’ll also take a look at the soft tissues in your mouth, checking for oral cancer.
Once a year, we’ll perform x-rays in order to detect any cavities that could be hidden in between the teeth, or any other problem that could be hard to detect at first blush.
Finally, we’ll talk to you about your dental hygiene, any medications you’ve started, and answer any questions you could have about how best to maintain your oral health.
The point of a dental cleaning is to break up plaque or tartar deposits in areas of the mouth that you can’t reach on your own. If it’s been a while since your last cleaning, we’ll numb your mouth before we begin to ensure that you’re completely comfortable. Then, one of our dental hygienists will use specialized tools to remove plaque and tartar deposits that have built up in the mouth.
After that, they’ll polish and floss your teeth so that you can leave our office feeling completely clean.
The entire process is simple and quick but can make a massive difference in your long-term oral health outcomes. If you haven’t been to the dentist’s in a while, give us a call—we’d be happy to see you!
