It’s incredibly important to stay up-to-date as dentistry continues to evolve. While this is true for treatments and techniques, it’s also true for technology. At Evans Street Dental, we include multiple forms of technology, each of which are designed to accomplish tasks that improve your dental care experience. Whether you want to be more informed on the state of your oral health or receive the most comprehensive diagnosis possible, modern technology allows us to ensure that is precisely the case.
Have you ever wondered exactly what the state of your oral health looks like? Alternatively, have you ever felt you don’t need a specific treatment, despite the dentist saying that you do? With an intraoral camera, we can capture highly detailed images of your mouth and oral structures, display them on a nearby monitor, and answer any questions you might have about your smile. It’s also an ideal way to prove the need for certain treatments to insurance companies.
Routine X-rays are necessary for confirming no issues invisible to the naked eye are present in your mouth. This is why we recommend them during every exam. Traditional X-rays used to take hours to develop. Today, digital X-rays not only cut that development time to only a few minutes, but they also reduce radiation exposure by up to 80 percent! Of course, we’ll take all the necessary precautions beforehand to ensure your health and safety.
While digital X-rays are very detailed, sometimes other treatments require a bit more information before they can be completed. With a CT/cone beam scanner, we can capture a 3D cross-section of your mouth, jaw, teeth, bone tissue, and many other areas of interest as part of your treatment planning. For example, if you needed to have dental implants placed or your TMJ examined for problems, the CT/cone beam scanner plays an integral role in this process!
Fortunately, here at Evans Street Dental, gone are the days of traditional putty impressions. Instead, we avoid the mess and discomfort and use a digital scanner to collect all the data we need. With this new technology, there is much less room for error, which means you won’t need to come in again just to take impressions. In a matter of minutes, we can scan the inside of your mouth with this instrument and create custom restorations and appliances that fit you perfectly.
